Friendships. The majority of the time, they are amazing. Wonderful, harmonious, joyful relationships with people who you can be 100% your true authentic self. In my eyes, A true friendship is accepting someone unconditionally, helping that person grow, supporting that person throughout the rollercoaster of life and in doing so helping to increase their ability to love themselves. That's what it's all about right?

But what about when, you start noticing the differences, and the cracks start to appear and instead of feeling like your cup is being filled up, it's being drained by your 'friend'. I am very lucky, I have a close friendship group of strong women who I know have my back. But in the past I have lost friends - very good friends actually and it hurt and I think since then I have re-evaluated who is in my inner-circle.

It can be hard when you start to wonder about friendships and what benefits they are bringing into your life. And if you are a people-pleaser like me, it eats away at you, you have an internal monologue that goes round and round, and it just doesn't sit right with you to set your boundaries or even walk away. But do you know what? You don't have to like everyone and not everyone needs to like you! Arrghhh people don't like me? No some people might not!

But let me tell you something. It's normal and it's ok. There are so many people out there, some will be mere acquaintances, some you wont like at all but you will make do with if you have to, some will be mates down the pub, some you will simply avoid forever more and some will be life-long friends. But to let them into your inner-circle, you just need to 'find your cod'.

Say you're out fishing - you are fishing for cod. Yes you personally, you love cod, you know cod is the right kind of fish for you, it's your absolute favourite. You pop your net in the water, wait a moment and then check the contents. You might have a few different types of fish in there. You don't mind those fish, you could make do with them but you are fishing for cod, so you throw them back in the water, you don't have to keep them. Same with people. You don't have to keep everyone. Makes sense doesn't it?

I'm so grateful for my cods x
